A Bronx man has been sentenced to three years in state prison and five years parole after being found guilty of second-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance.

Rockland County District Attorney Thomas Zugibe said that on August 25, 2010, Carlos Jimenez-Toribio, 20, was in a vehicle on the Thruway in the Town of Clarkstown that was driven by Norberto Ruiz.

A search of the vehicle turned up over 14 ounces of cocaine in the trunk as well as packaging materials. Ruiz was also found in possession of five grams of cocaine and a small amount of marijuana.

Ruiz was found guilty and sentenced to the same term on the same charge in January.
