A Bronx man faces up to 25 years in prison after he pleaded guilty to a carjacking that took place November outside of a CVS Pharmacy in Pelham Manor.

David Piparo, 48, of the Bronx, NY, pleaded guilty to one count of first-degree armed robbery, a Class B felony, in Westchester County Court Friday. He faces a prison sentence of 8 1/3 to 25 years. Piparo’s sentencing is scheduled for Nov. 17.

At about 8:45 p.m. on Nov. 24, 2010, Piparo approached a woman who was inside a 2001 BMW that was stopped outside of the CVS located on 4760 Boston Post Road.

Piparo displayed a gun and ordered the woman to leave her car before driving off in her vehicle.

During the course of the Pelham Manor Police Department’s investigation of the robbery, they were contacted by the New York City Police Department about a string of robberies that were taking place in the Bronx.

Piparo was eventually apprehended in the Bronx on Dec. 3 by the NYPD’s Violent Felony Apprehension Unit. The stolen BMW was also located nearby.

In addition to the armed robbery near CVS, Piparo faces additional federal charges related to an armed robbery that took place at Tes Oros Jewelry Store in Pelham Manor on Nov. 30  and two other robberies that took place in the Bronx. Those other cases are pending.

Westchester County assistant district attorneys Laura Murphy and Justin Tolbert prosecuted the case.
