Police were searching late Tuesday for a man who told authorities the previously day that he had killed his girlfriend in their Bronx apartment.
Authorities said they found a woman in her 30s just before 07:00 p.m. Monday inside her apartment on East 174th Street in the Soundview section of Bronx.
Sources said man called police around 06:45 p.m. Monday from a downtown Manhattan pay phone, saying he had killed his girlfriend on Wednesday and gave them the address of the apartment. He then ran off.
The woman had head trauma and had been dead for several days when she was found.
Candles and flowers were left in front of the couple’s front door Tuesday night.
According to neighbours, it was well known that the couple fought, but nobody knew of physical abuse.
By late Tuesday, the city medical examiner was determining how the woman died and sources said no arrests had been made.
