A Bronx man sold cocaine and crack cocaine to informants last summer, police say.

On January 19, 2017, Plattsburgh City Police charged Jarrod C. Thompson, 33, with second-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance; two counts of third-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance; and two counts of third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, all felonies, according to a City Police blotter entry.

The arrest resulted from an Adirondack Task Force investigation.

Thompson sold the drugs between June 14 and July 13, 2016, City Police Det. Matt Bell said.

Then-Clinton County Court Judge Kevin Ryan signed a grand jury indictment warrant for his arrest on November 10, 2016.

U.S. Marshals located Thompson on January 19, 2017 in Bronx and brought him to the Glens Falls area, where they met up with Task Force personnel, Bell said.

He was then relayed to the Plattsburgh City Police station on Pine Street for arrest processing and committed to County Jail on the warrant.

Thompson was later arraigned in Clinton County Court before Judge Keith Bruno, who sent him back to the jail on $50,000 cash bail / $100,000 bond, a court official said.

He is scheduled to reappear in court for a conference at 11:30 a.m. Friday, February 17, 2017.

Thompson remained in jail Monday.

Third-degree criminal sale and criminal possession charges, which commonly accompany alleged narcotics sale arrests in Clinton County, are class B felonies under the State Penal Code.

They carry potential prison sentences of one to three years or up to 25 years.

Thompson was additionally charged with second-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance, a class A-II felony, for allegedly selling half an ounce or more of a controlled substance, Bell explained.

If convicted on that charge, he would face a minimum of three to eight years in prison with a maximum sentence of life in prison, according to the Penal Code.
