Bronx Engineering and Technology Academy (BETA) opened in 2004 as a New Visions New Century School in partnership with the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.

The school’s mission is to create a nurturing and challenging learning environment that will stimulate and support students’ ability to think critically and creatively. BETA together with families and community partnerships, engages students with real-world problems by using engineering as a lens through which everyday problems are analyzed, approached, and solved.

One of the school’s instrumental partnerships in this mission is Turner Construction, who last year allowed their students to participate in internships permitting them to take part in the building of Yankee stadium. The attached photo is of one of the school’s recent graduates, Nicole, Rodriguez, who now is attending the School of Engineering at Manhattan College.

BETA’s dedication to their mission in conjunction with their invaluable partnerships and the leadership of BETA’s Principal, Mr. Rashid F. David, help make Bronx Engineering and Technology Academy one of the top schools in the Bronx.
