Bronx Dance School Dominates Connecticut

Performers Edge Dance Academy located in the Throgs Neck section of the Bronx swept New Haven, CT throughout their three-day weekend March 26-28, 2010 at Bravo Dance Competition.

With over 25 schools and over 500 entries this local dance school took it all! The dancers range from the ages of 6 to 18 years old. These dancers really knew how to kick off their season making their teachers proud.

After months of learning choreography and late night rehearsals it all paid off this past weekend. All groups received platinum awards with over all winnings 1st, 2nd, and 3rd places leaving very little placement for others. These young dancers dominated each category coming home with a title from each age such as: Petite Miss Bravo Paloma Chrissotimos, Junior Miss Bravo Shari Alston, 1st Runner up of Junior Miss Bravo Amber McCrink, Teen Miss Bravo Gabrielle Cruz, a Free wardrobe from “Body Wrappers Clothing Line” was presented to Angelique Cruz for her outstanding performance, a full scholarship to Manhattan Dance Project was presented to Shari Alston.

The Mini team consisting of 7-8 year old dancers received the Pinnacle Standing ovation award for their tap piece “Ding Dong the Witch is Dead” choreographed by Miss Stefanie Salaman for the 11 and under age category. The Teen & Senior group knew how to bring it home as well winning their own Pinnacle Standing ovation award for their open piece “Bitter Sweet Symphony” for all the 12 and over age groups.

Miss Stefanie Salaman also was a winner at the Bravo Dance and Talent Competition winning 4 choreographer awards! Miss Stefanie was also offered choreography jobs from other studios for her outstanding job with her own students. It was plain to see that her work well deserved best choreography of the weekend awards. The audience could not get enough of these dancers enjoying each minute of their performances.

Performers Edge was founded in 2003 under the direction of Stefanie Salaman.
