Bronx Borough President Ruben Diaz Jr. visited Public School 121 Bronx. He responded to a request from the Student Government, asking him to come and see the rigorous programs that function within a limited budget.
After a brief meeting with the Principal, Ms. Rachel Donnelly, and the Parent Coordinator, Ms. Ramona Brunson, Mr. Diaz, along with his Director of Educational Policy and Youth Services, Mr. Jesse Mojica, proceeded to a meeting with the Student Government.
The Borough President introduced himself to the Student Government members and explained his job, along with his role in helping schools. At that point, Mr. Diaz presented a classic lesson on government to the students in a way that kept them interested and motivated to learn more!
Raheel Yanful of Class 5.306 stated “I felt very comfortable with him because he was a regular person, just like us. I learned that if you want to make a change, you have to step up. What really impressed me was Mr. Diaz’s energy and motivation to help us.”
Students’ overall feeling is that they now have a greater appreciation and understanding of the position of the Borough President and the very hands-on, down-to-earth leadership style of Ruben Diaz Jr.
