Democratic Assemblyman Eric Stevenson was convicted Monday after a week-long trial in Manhattan federal court. He had been charged with accepting $22,000 in bribes in 2012 and early 2013. Prosecutors said he took the money in return for protecting a new Bronx adult center in his district from competitors.
Mr. Stevenson did not testify during the trial.
A lawyer for Mr. Stevenson had argued during the trial that the government used a corrupt informant to trick Mr. Stevenson into saying things that sounded incriminating.
