Despite the heavy rain, musicians from across New York City and beyond gathered at the Mt. Nebo Grand Lodge Community Foundation for an Artist Showcase, celebrating talented artists, vendors, and community members.

The event’s theme, aimed at fostering community unity and addressing gun violence, was emphasized by Jason Murillo, also known as DJ Loudmouth, who stated, “We are here to unite our community and put an end to gun violence rain or shine, nothing can stop us.”

Veronica Gonzalez, known as Vero G., energetically introduced over twenty artists spanning various genres, from gospel to rap.

The first performance, by James Young, aka I.Den.tT, a proud member of the LGBTQ+ community, showcased their latest singles “Sick to Work” and “Be the Cloud.” Expressing love for performing in the Bronx, I.Den.tT emphasized the importance of representing queer minorities openly.

Gonzalo Duran, CEO of Devil Dog USA Incorporated, emphasized the need for community outlets to share voices, citing music as a universal platform for expression. He highlighted the significance of such events and said he was proud to provide the space and resources for this event to take place.

Dion Powell, (C) District Leader for the nearby area, expressed his enthusiasm for the event, emphasizing the importance of networking and the positive atmosphere it brings to the Bronx and New York City. He pledged to bring more resources to future events like this.

Lazaro R. Martinez, known as Lazaris the Top Don, shared his global experience in performing but underscored his love for performing in the Bronx as a Latino artist, honoring the borough’s roots in hip hop.
