Police arrested a 19-year-old man and charged him in the slaying of a Bronx mother who was struck with a stray bullet.
Police say Yaritza Pacheco, 24, was not the intended target of gunfire that strafed the 900 block of East 174th Street in the Bronx around 4:00 .a.m. Saturday. Ms. Pacheco, a single mother who lived two blocks away, was shot in the neck.
On Monday, police arrested 19-year-old Jeffrey Ramirez and charged him with murder, manslaughter and criminal possession of a weapon. Mr. Ramirez was awaiting arraignment on Monday.
