On Thursday, June 20, 2019, Bronx Borough President Ruben Diaz Jr. hosted the borough’s annual Caribbean Heritage Celebration, which took place in the Veterans’ Memorial Hall of the Bronx County Building.

The event, hosted by radio personality Dr. Barbara “Roxie” De Laleu, recognized the vibrant heritage and culture of the Caribbean and Caribbean-American community as well as their contributions to the political and cultural landscape of Bronx and New York City.

This year’s honorees included New York City Public Advocate Jumaane Williams, CEO of Irie Jam Media Group Bobby Clarke and Deputy Commissioner of New York State Homes & Community Renewal’s Office of Rent Administration Woody Pascal.

“Part of the beauty of The Bronx is its rich diversity and our Caribbean friends and neighbors help make New York City and our borough an amazing place,” said Bronx Borough President Ruben Diaz Jr. “I am honored each year to host this celebration of the Caribbean and Caribbean-American diaspora and everything this wonderful community contributes to the ongoing success of our borough and our city.”
