On Thursday, August 05, 2021, at approximately 2313 hours, police responded to a 911 call of a motor vehicle collision near the corner of W. 229th Street and Bailey Avenue (vicinity of 2860 Bailey Avenue), within the confines of the 50th Precinct in the Bronx.

Upon arrival, officers observed a 29-year-old motorcyclist, lying on the roadway with head and body trauma.

EMS responded to the location and transported the aided male to St. Barnabas Hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.

Further investigation by the NYPD Highway District’s Collision Investigation Squad determined that the male motorcyclist, while operating a 2012 BMW motorcycle, was traveling northbound on Bailey Avenue, and crossed over the double yellow line into the south bound lanes, continuing north bound to overtake another vehicle, when the motorcycle did strike the passenger side of vehicle #2, a 1996 Toyota Corolla, operated by a 31-year-old male, which was attempting to make a left hand turn from the right lane of south bound Bailey Avenue, onto east bound W. 229th Street.

The operator of the Toyota remained and the scene, and was also transported to St. Barnabas Hospital, via EMS, with complaint of pain. He was taken into custody with charges pending.
