A Night Of Papa poster

Comprised of talented artists from around the world, the Atlantic City Ballet, a vibrant young company, is filling theaters and thrilling audiences across New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and most recently New York City.

Phyllis Papa, artistic director of the company, presents a Night Of Papa at the Manhattan Movement & Art Cente with the following:

Eclipse
Music by Mike Oldfield

Eclipse is a rock ballet that is vibrant and exciting. Eclipse explores the contemporary and celebrates the summer solstice. The ballet takes place in the Nordic Lands where people experience six months of darkness. The celebration of light is one of the biggest Holidays of the year. The ballet’s climax is a very breathtaking pas de deux that finishes with the couple flying through the air in a lotus blossom.

Tango
Tango, a beautiful ballet in three movements, captures the elegant tango done on pointe with both contemporary and classical movement.

Drums
Vibrant swirling costumes and pulsing drumbeats characterize this phantasm of an African festival.

Impressions
Music by the Beatles

This four part piece combines playful and light-hearted choreography with up-beat music from the band that proclaimed “All you need is love!” It shows the athleticism of American dancers and their freedom and daring on stage.
