This project supports my European debut at the Entangled Black Americas International Conference, Jan 19-20, 2017 at the University of Bielefeld, Germany.

Mi Gente,

This project supports my travel to participate in a ground breaking conference, to share and learn and connect with other writers, scholars, activists and artists. As a Black Puerto Rican woman, as a feminist writer, as an educator, as an on the ground activist and community organizer who stands for social justice and for the right to resist and heal from oppression, both individually and collectively, I am keenly aware of the importance of my writing, my voice and the difference I make for people. This project serves the expansion of my writing, performance art and pedagogy; what I have been working on for over 20 years.

My goal is to raise $1,250.00 to cover expenses. If this amount is exceeded, the surplus will be applied to the completion of my album. (Stay tuned!)

When I was 25 years old, I choose the name Mariposa as my pen and stage name, mostly to remind myself that, no matter what the circumstances, it is possible for us to transform our lives and social condition.

I am on a quest to fulfill my dreams and make a difference with my work, for my community and the world. Your generous contribution here is the wind beneath my wings!
