In a video message played at today’s Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) board meeting, Dr. Anthony S. Fauci, Director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases and Chief Medical Advisor to President Biden, encouraged MTA employees to get the CoViD-19 vaccine when it becomes available to protect themselves and those around them during the pandemic.
In the two-minute message, the former New York City Subway commuter speaks directly to the Authority’s heroic frontline employees, explaining that the vaccine is safe and the best way to fight back against the CoViD-19 pandemic.
MTA employees have kept New York City moving during the pandemic as essential workers and heroes – and are at the front of the line to receive a vaccine as Dr. Fauci details in his message.
The national health expert also speaks to the special place the MTA has in his heart from his teenage years, describing in detail his commute by subway from Brooklyn to Regis High School in Manhattan on the Upper East Side.
“I can relate warmly to you folks who played an important role in my younger days as a New Yorker and so since I care about you all, I strongly encourage all MTA workers to get vaccinated against the coronavirus,” Dr. Fauci says in the video. “This pandemic has taken so much from us and vaccination is the best way for us to fight back and help restore our lives. The U.S.-authorized coronavirus…

By Jonas BronckToday, New York City Comptroller Scott Stringer released Fair Shot NYC, a vaccine equity plan to ensure that New Yorkers across backgrounds, income-levels, occupations and age groups have equitable access to vaccines as the City ramps up distribution. Comptroller Stringer’s Fair Shot NYC plan includes recommendations for more transparency and outreach to increase access for communities of color, lower-income neighborhoods, and immigrant New Yorkers.
Comptroller Stringer called on the City to release demographic data in real time broken down by age, race, profession and zip code, mandate businesses provide paid time off for employees who need to get vaccinated, and drastically scale up outreach and education through public advertising campaigns and local community leaders and organizations.
“Communities of color and lower-income New Yorkers bore the brunt of the pandemic, and now these same communities face systemic barriers to accessing life-saving vaccines,” said Comptroller Stringer. “We cannot continue to sideline our most vulnerable New Yorkers during the most important vaccine rollout of our lifetime. I am proposing a Vaccine Equity Agenda to center the communities who need it most and ensure our distribution and communication are meeting New Yorkers where they are –…

You should know that before the end of the year 2020, President Trump has dressed himself like Santa Claus to bring some relief to the American people by increasing funds from $600 to $2,000 for individuals and $4,000 for couples. This will help alleviate the economic struggle caused by CoViD-19.
As you know my dear reader, CoViD-19 has caused the loss of lives, jobs, and separation from love ones, families and friends. This pandemic has caused much pain and devastation. Tragically many have been prohibited from being at the bedside of their loved ones at the time of their departure from this life. Adding salt to their wounds many have been unable to give their loved ones a proper burial.
CoViD-19, or The Chinese Virus, has not only destroyed and impacted countless American lives in the United States, but tragically it has impacted the entire globe, all nations and their peoples.
Here in America President Trump, as promised, through “Operation Warp Speed”, has not only delivered to the world one vaccine, but three to combat CoViD-19. This was made possible by the President’s initiative to eliminate governmental bureaucracy that would have taken years to develop a vaccine. By eliminating the red tape and working with, not only scientific experts but with the private sector, has ensured that these vaccines would meet the President’s goal to have them available for distribution by the end of this year. President Trump accomplished this feat while many critics mocked his deadline and said it would be impossible. But he did it!
You should also know, that to the surprise of Democrats and Republicans alike, President Trump has gone above and beyond the $600 (six-hundred dollars) that Congress had allocated. President Trump has recognized that $600 barely offers any help to suffering Americans. $600 can barely help cover the cost of a family’s utilities and rent. Therefore, the President is asking members of Congress to increase this amount to $2,000 for individuals, and $4,000 for couples. Praise be to God!
President Donald Trump, before leaving office, has taken the sword of Don Quixote, De La Mancha and is attacking all the evil that CoViD-19 has brought to America and the…

Movies , Art , Culture , Entertainment , Featured , Films , Music , News , ReviewsIn conjunction with the federal holiday that celebrates the life of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., the Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) is celebrating 10 years of its Small Business Development Program (SBDP), which has provided minority- and women-owned business enterprises (MWBEs) with mentoring and capacity building opportunities surpassing all other agencies in the transportation industry.
The program has awarded 455 contracts amounting to $480 million and more than 11,520 jobs created or maintained.
The idea to provide both classroom and field training to small contractors in minority and disadvantaged communities was embraced by MTA leadership upon the program’s inception. New York State legislation was secured to provide the approval and funding for the program in 2010 and it was just renewed for another decade. SBDP gives smaller construction firms an opportunity to do work as a prime, giving them the experience, the technical training and the support of larger construction firms. In the years to follow, New York State raised it goals for MWBE state contracting utilization, now at 30 percent, changing the paradigm for small business procurement in minority and disadvantaged communities.
“The Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. once said: ‘The time is always right to do what is right’. His words and wisdom remain as relevant and important today as our country continues to reckon with racial injustice and an unprecedented public health crisis,” said MTA Chairman and CEO Patrick J. Foye. “We must all strive to match Dr. King’s commitment to equality and his desire to create a better world for all.”
“Having the ability to take taxpayer-funded projects and award contracts in an inclusive manner to a pool of businesses who have historically been shut out is true social justice and economic empowerment,” said MTA Chief Diversity & Inclusion Officer Michael J. Garner. “The principles of Dr. King are extolled here in the State of New York, and at the MTA, as we continue…

Mayor Bill de Blasio today announced that the New York City Department of Transportation (DOT) has constructed a record 28.6 lane miles of new protected bike lanes across all five boroughs in 2020. Combined with another 35.2 miles of conventional bike lanes, 83 miles of car-free Open Streets, more than 10,800 Open Restaurants on city streets and sidewalk, and 16.3 miles of new bus lanes – another one-year record – New York City’s streetscape was transformed more dramatically during 2020 than in any year in modern history.
“Our city has reimagined our streets as we have fought back the CoViD-19 crisis. That means more space for restaurants and businesses, faster options for bus riders, and more ways than ever to accommodate the cycling boom with new protected bike lanes,” said Mayor Bill de Blasio. “Record numbers of bike lanes and bus lanes will change our urban landscape forever – and, as we continue our fight to build a fairer and better city, we will not stop here.”
“In a year where we have seen cycling boom throughout this city, DOT has done a remarkable job in building the critical infrastructure to keep New Yorkers safe and moving throughout this city,” said Deputy Mayor Laura Anglin. “Amidst all of the challenges CoViD-19 has thrown our way, this Administration has remained dedicated to building upon Vision Zero and making our streets safer for all New Yorkers.”
“As unprecedented as this year has been, I sincerely applaud everyone…
