The Human Impacts Institute has put together a hybrid experience like no other and the Bronx Council on the Arts (BCA) is excited to be a part of it.
The 10th Annual Creative Climate Awards (CCA) features 15 artists from around NYC along with five curating organizations.
Bronx Council on the Arts is proud to represent the Bronx through the works of artists Kim Darces, Ruth Marshall, and Estelle Maisonett.
Kim Dacres is a Jamaican-American artist and educator from the Bronx, who lives and practices her studio work in Harlem. She approaches her work with enthusiasm for life and accountability for the stories of everyday people of color. Her work explores themes of pride, resistance, and silence through the combination and manipulation of tires inspired by intimate narratives.
Australian born and raised, Ruth Marshall has been a Bronx resident since 2000. Her artwork explores the creative possibility of textiles through crochet and knitting, with an emphasis on bringing these crafts to a fine art level of excellence. Ruth sees yarn as having a benign aspect and a history of domestic utility, while maintaining the ability to demonstrate connections to socio-political contexts.
Estelle Maisonett is a mixed-media interdisciplinary artist born and raised in the Bronx. She uses found objects, photography, and clothing to document her lived experience while exploring perception of identity through fashion, pattern, consumption, architecture, and material.

The Creative Climate Awards (CCA) are an annual series of events that showcase artists creating climate-inspired public works and actions. Over the last decade, CCA has showcased climate-inspired artwork from around the globe, including 194 artists from 31 countries and reached over 200,000 audience members.
Responding to local needs due to the CoViD-19 pandemic, our 2020 CCAs are bringing the diversity of NYC creatives, environmental and social justice advocates to your doorstep. Join us for virtual events and see the artwork virtually and in-person in storefronts across NYC.
About Bronx Council On The Arts
Founded by visionary community leaders in 1962, the Bronx Council on the Arts (BCA) is dedicated to advancing cultural equity in Bronx. From creative placemaking and arts advocacy to the provision of services for artists and arts organizations, as well as programming for children and seniors, BCA was the first organization in Bronx to focus equally on supporting local artists, serving the community, and catalyzing relationships between the two.
Since its founding, BCA has focused on the work of underrepresented groups, especially artists of color, women, and members of the LGBTQ community.
