A 100-year-old man living in Bronx accidentally shot himself in the leg with an illegal firearm.

Pedro Detres was apparently handling a .32 caliber revolver at his E. 162nd Street apartment in New York City when the weapon went off, according to anonymous police sources.

Detres, who was born in the spring of 1917, sustained a gun shot wound to the left thigh as a result.

Police told the Post that the gun was not purchased legally.

“He just said he obtained it many, many years ago. God knows how long ago that was,” the source added.

It remains unclear why Detres was handling the pistol in the first place.

Detres was taken to Lincoln hospital to treat his self-sustained injury. He was also placed under arrest for criminal possessing of an illegal weapon.

He was later released on his own recognizance without bond.
