Starting January 1 of this year, every livery base in Westchester, Nassau, and New York City must provide proof of a Workers’ Compensation policy for its drivers or a certificate that it is a member of the New York State Independent Livery Drivers Benefit Fund.
In the first two weeks of the year, over 60 percent of livery vehicles are operating out of bases that have complied with this new law. However, those bases who fail to obtain the necessary coverage will be subject to fines of $2,000 for every ten day period without coverage and will be subject to a Stop-Work order, forcing them to cease all business until they come into compliance.
To become a member of the Independent Livery Drivers Benefit Fund, an application and affirmation must be completed and submitted to Hereford Insurance Company, the insurance company for the ILDBF, along with payment of premium based on the number of affiliated vehicles.

Empezando el primero de enero de este año, toda base de carros “livery” en Westchester, Nassau y la ciudad de Nueva York deberá proveer prueba de que tiene una poliza de compensación obrera para sus choferes o un certificado de que son miembros del “New York State Independent Livery Drivers Benefit Fund”.
En las primeras dos semanas del año, más del 60% de los carros “livery” estan operando de bases que han cumplido con la nueva ley. Sin embargo, las bases “livery” que no obtengan la cubierta necesaria estarán sujetas a multas de $2,000.00 por cada periodo de diez días sin cubierta y estarán expuestos a recibir una orden de Pare de Trabajo, que los obligaria a suspender operaciones hasta que cumplan con la regulación.
Para convertirse en miembro del “ Independent Livery Drivers Benefit Fund” deberán llenar una solicitud con la correspondiente afirmación y someterla a Hereford Insurance Company, la compañía de seguros del ILDBF, junto al pago de la prima basado en la cantidad de vehículos afiliados.
