An interesting pre-production concept has surfaced on the furniture circuit.
The idea puts high-resolution art onto the seat of a folding chair, whose legs are stylized like the toolings on an exhibition-quality frame. When the chair is folded up, the art is displayed in the frame, creating flat rectangle that’s suitable for hanging on the wall.
This is a nifty concept piece that also offers up a thoughtful new way to store folding chairs. We wouldn’t mind seeing some of these in production, perhaps with custom-printed chair surfaces, as well as with a library of public domain fine art imagery. Care would have to be taken to seal the chair’s surface, in order that the art wouldn’t bear stains or smudges when assembled for hanging.
