Hundreds of New Yorkers will climb the 756 steps of 1411 Broadway at 39th Street on Thursday, November 18, 2010 at 6:45 p.m. to help raise awareness of the problem of domestic abuse and demonstrate support for battered women in New York.

Battered women need to know there is HOPE – and HELP available. Former Knicks star John Starks and players from the New York Liberty basketball team will cheer on participants as they climb.

The stairclimb is organized by inMotion, a group that provides free, quality legal services to low-income, underserved, abused women and their children. The organization has helped thousands of women free themselves from abusive relationships, stay in their homes and win the financial support to which they‹and their children‹are legally entitled. 43% of inMotion’s clients live in the Bronx.
