Quintet Of The Americas To Present “Music & Mimosas” In Bronx

Quintet of the Americas woodwind ensemble will present “Music and Mimosas – A Concert Celebrating Nature” on Saturday, February 11, 2017 @ 1:00 p.m. at Bartow-Pell Mansion Museum, 895 Shore Road in Pelham Bay Park, Bronx, NY.

The program will include Samuel Barber’s Summer Music, Eric Ewazen’s Roaring Fork, a premiere by Queens-based composer James Cohn, as well as music by Duke Ellington, George Gershwin, and Scott Joplin, Tico-Tico, plus a Valentine surprise. The event also includes a light buffet.

Internationally known Quintet of the Americas is Queens’ own premiere woodwind quintet. Founded in Bogota, Colombia in 1976, the Quintet has specialized in bringing music from the Western hemisphere to audiences in the United States since its arrival in New York in 1979. The group has enjoyed an international career that has taken them to concert halls throughout the Americas and Eastern Europe, including Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, Symphony Space, and the Library of Congress. Members of the Quintet are Karla Moe, flute, Matt Sullivan, oboe, Paul Won Jin Cho, clarinet, Barbara Oldham, horn, and Gina Cuffari, bassoon.
