12th Annual “Dads Take Your Child To School” Celebration

Students and families will walk from the Bronx River Cornerstone Community Center to neighboring schools.

What:

DYCD, along with City, State and Federal agencies, Modell’s Sporting Goods, Scholastic, and HealthFirst, will sponsor the 12th Annual Dads Take Your Child to School Day Rally.

The event is open to all fathers, uncles, grandfathers, male caregivers, mentors, as well as other family members and school children. This year, participants will walk from the Bronx River Cornerstone Community Center in Soundview to neighboring schools, including a “High Five” receiving line at Mott Hall V at 1551 East 172nd Street in Bronx.

Dads Take Your Child to School is a nationwide event celebrated in more than 700 locations across the country. Participating partners include the New York City Human Resources Administration/Department of Social Services (HRA/DSS), New York City Administration for Children’s Services (ACS), New York City Department of Education (DOE), the New York State Office of Children and Family Services (NYS OCFS), the New York State Office of Temporary and Disability Assistance (NYS OTDA), and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Administration for Children & Families (HHS ACF).

07:00 a.m.— Program begins/Commissioner’s welcome
07:30 a.m.— Guest speaker Quentin Vennie addresses families
07:45 a.m. — Rally and March to various schools
07:50 a.m. — “High Five” line at Mott Hall V at 1551 East 172nd Street for dads and students entering the school
