The Bronx Community College of the City University of New York October 3, 2014 held a ribbon cutting ceremony to launch the Geospatial Technology Center of the CREST Institute, a collaboration between BCC and the CUNY Remote Sensing Earth System Institute.

Under the direction of Indian American Sunil Bhaskaran, the center will focus on education and research opportunities for BCC undergraduates, faculty and staff and specialized training in geospatial technology.

The center will provide leadership in geospatial technology and its applications for both STEM and non-STEM disciplines.

It will have ties to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration Center for Remote Sensing Teaching and the Educational Office of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration and work with international institutes including the Jawaharlal Nehru University at Delhi University and the Indian Institute of Science.
