Fatal Collision Investigation

On Tuesday, January 08, 2019 at approximately 06:36 a.m., police responded to a 911 call of a motor vehicle collision involving a pedestrian struck at Willis Avenue and East 138 Street, within the confines of the 40 Precinct in Bronx.

Upon arrival, officers observed an unidentified adult female, unconscious and unresponsive, lying on the roadway with severe body trauma. EMS responded to the location and pronounced the aided female deceased at the scene. Preliminary investigation by the NYPD Highway District’s Collision Investigation Squad determined that a 2007 NYC Sanitation Sand Spreader was traveling Eastbound on East 138 Street and made a left turn on to Northbound Willis Avenue striking the female pedestrian.

After striking the pedestrian the vehicle fled the scene. There are no arrests and the investigation remains ongoing.
