Two Bronx men last week copped to their roles in the 2013 death of a Jackson Heights middle-school teacher, according to Queens District Attorney Richard Brown.

Cecil Golden, 22, pleaded guilty to first-degree manslaughter for strangling David Rangel, 53, and shoving his body underneath a sofa inside his apartment. The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner determined Rangel died as a result of compression of the neck and torso.

Elijah Agyepong, 21, pleaded guilty to first-degree robbery for taking Rangel’s cell phone and other electronic items.

According to Brown, Golden will be sentenced in December to 20 years in prison and five years’ parole. Agyepong has been notified that he will be sentenced to 15 years in prison early next year.

“In pleading guilty, the two defendants admit to their roles in this January 2013 crime,” Brown said. “One defendant strangled the teacher to death and the other robbed him. They both now face lengthy prison sentences for their actions.”
