Ghanaian native and Bronx, NY resident, Joshua Clottey (36-4), looked impressive in his comeback fight against Calvin Green (21-6-1).

Clottey has been out of the ring for approximately a year following his loss to Pacquaio. This was a particularly disappointing match given that he was rather inactive and did not seem he put a good fight to emerge victorious at the end.

However, Clottey looked more active in this fight and caught Green with a left hook in the second round that sent Green to the canvas and unable to answer the referee’s count. Following this victory, Clottey keeps his status amongst the top contenders in the welterweight to middleweight division.

A near future advise for Clottey would be to use the positive momentum he gained and stay active. Top Rank, serving as Clottey’s promotional team, must keep him active and in the public eye as his next fight should be televised either on HBO or Showtime in order to create a buzz that Clottey is a competitor who can also be entertaining. There are many opportunities for high caliber fights within the welterweight to middleweight divisions with the biggest names of all, Pacquaio and Mayweather, in his class.

Following this definitive victory, the doors are once again wide open for Clottey and his team to choose which direction they want to take his career. The timing could not be better to be in the welterweight to middleweight division as there are many names to contend with in big payday fights.

No one should count Clottey out just yet. He could be a problem for any challenger.
