Police are looking for the man who brutalized a New York City cab driver Saturday night, punching and stabbing the driver after being taken to the wrong place in Bronx.

Cabbie Beaten, Stabbed By Passenger In Bronx

Police say the cab driver picked up the fare at Delancey and Ludlow streets about 02:00 a.m., and that the man asked to be taken somewhere in the Bronx. When the cabbie took the man, in his 20s, to the 1900 block of Grand Concourse, the suspect said they were at the wrong place.

The cabbie told the man to pay him and then he would go to the right location, the suspect threw money for the fare at him. The suspect then punched the cabbie in the face and got out of the car.

After that, the suspect broke out the taxi’s passenger-side windows. He walked back around to the driver’s side, where he punched the cabbie in the face again, cut the driver’s wrist and back with a box cutter and took back the cab fare. Finally, the assailant slashed the taxi’s front two tires before the scene.

The cab driver was taken to St. Barnabas Hospital, where he was treated and released.

A surveillance photograph of the suspect is attached and available at DCPI.
