Brett Eisenberg – BILS’ New Executive Director

Brett L. Eisenberg has been selected to serve as BILS next Executive Director, effective March 23, 2009. Brett served as Membership Specialist for the National Business and Disability Council (NBDC), which is the leading resource for employers who seek to integrate people with disabilities into the workplace, and for companies which seek to reach them in the consumer marketplace.

In Brett’s role, he worked with companies on employing people with disabilities and various other disability initiatives.

Prior to his position at NBDC, Brett spent several years at AIG, where he created programs that would enable AIG to better serve the needs of disabled populations. As Disability Coordinator, Brett led AIG’s Disability Initiatives Program in such varied areas as recruitment and retention; corporate affairs; assistive technology; and products and services. In addition, Brett also served on the Corporate Diversity Council for AIG.

Before joining AIG, Brett worked at Merrill Lynch in various areas including Private Wealth Management; Global Philanthropy; Office of General Counsel; and the Litigation Department.

Brett’s extensive involvement with, and outreach to people with disabilities goes beyond his daily work. He not only serves on the local organizing committee for Disability Mentoring Day (DMD), but he is also the Co-Chair for DMD’s Mentor Recruitment Subcommittee. In addition, Brett founded and directs the New York chapter of the Osteogenesis Imperfecta Foundation, and serves as a member of six Business Advisory Councils, including Abilities, Inc.; Just One Break, Inc. (JOB); and Fedcap.

Brett holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting with a concentration in Management from Nova Southeastern University. In 2008, Brett received the prestigious Paul G. Hearne/AAPD Leadership Award.
