A 29-year-old Bronx man drowned in the Delaware River at the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area on Sunday.

The man, Ramcharan Balkaran, had been wading in the river at Hialeah Picnic Area off River Road when he got caught in the current.

According to park officials, he did know how to swim and did not wear a life jacket. His body was recovered about 20 minutes after the drowning was reported.
